Amelia Kerr's Journey from Double-Centuries to Mental Health Advocate

Amelia Kerr has always been a force to be reckoned with on the cricket pitch, but it’s what she’s doing off it that really warms our hearts. With Out of the Rough, Amelia is quietly changing the way we talk about mental health—making it feel as natural as chatting with a mate over a cuppa.

You might remember Amelia smashing that world-record 232 in a Women’s ODI when she was just 17. Plenty of us cheered her every boundary, but fewer knew the battles she was facing behind the scenes. In 2021, Amelia pressed pause on her career for seven months to tend to her own anxiety and depression. It wasn’t an easy choice, but it was the right one—and it reminds us that even our heroes need support sometimes.

Out of the Rough began as Amelia’s way of saying, “You’re not alone.” Through the Treading Water video series, she and others share honest, unfiltered glimpses of their mental-health journeys—moments of courage, of crisis, and of hope. There’s no fluff, no platitudes, just real conversations that remind us it’s okay to ask for help.

We’re proud to stand alongside Amelia. Together, we make sure that anyone who needs someone to talk to can find free, confidential counselling and a community that truly cares. There’s no judgement here—just a hand extended in friendship whenever you need it.

When she’s not turning heads with bat or ball, Amelia’s diving into a BA in Education and Sociology, and even spending time as a teacher aide. She’s all about lifting others up, whether that’s in the classroom or on a video call through Out of the Rough.

Amelia’s story is a reminder that strength isn’t about shouldering everything alone—it’s about knowing when to lean on others. If her journey tells us one thing, it’s that asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do.

Fancy a chat, or know someone who might? Head over to Out of the Rough and let’s keep the conversation going.
